Joy Lacquer - Emerald City Itinerary Collection

*Press Sample*

About a year ago Joy Lacquer came into our lives with a Summer  in Seattle themed inaugural collection. I was really fortunate to be asked to blog and swatch for Joy when she launched and I've spent the last year watching this superb indie brand grow and really come into its own.

To kick off year two Joy is back with another Seattle inspired collection, the Emerald City Itinerary. This 7 piece collection is inspired by some of the famous and iconic destinations to visit in Seattle! I have four of the colors to share with you today.

Let's jump right in!

PIER 57 COTTON CANDY is a pink shimmer/creme polish with gold and pink holo microglitter scattered throughout. There is a blue shift with this polish and some pink and blue illusion flecks. This polish is best applied in 2-3 thin coats.

Pier 57 Cotton Candy is easily opaque but will showcase the tiny details best when it's applied thin and of course, when it's in the direct sunshine.

Joy's inspiration is the massive sized bag of cotton candy you can buy at Pier 57.  There lies the Seattle Great Wheel (ferris wheel ride overlooking the water), Miner's Landing gift shops and within a block is Ivars Fish Bar and the Seattle Aquarium.  Pink and blue + sparkles = cotton candy. 'Nuff said.

THE FREMONT BRIDGE TROLL is a deep neon green with purple elements throughout.  Purple shimmer and purple micro-glitters give the bright green a deeper, more complex neon hue, and there is a subtle linear holo finish.

From the story "The Three Billy Goats Gruff, " this statue is Seattle's version of a troll living under the bridge. He is a gigantic, one-eyed sculpture, holding a real VW Beetle.

The polish is much prettier then the sculpture! Two to three thin coats is best with this polish (like with Cotton Candy) to really allow you to see the detail.

Isn't that blue shimmer AMAZING?!

LIVE AT EASY STREET is a vivid purple scatterd holographic polish.  With green illusion flecks and subtle green flash, this is made on the sheer side to layer a bit and looks spectacular in the sun, showing the dimensional green elements.

This famous indie music store opened in 1988.  Not only do they have an amazing breakfast cafe attached, but owner Matt Vaughan has hosted hundreds of world famous bands in small audience performances.  Some of the most popular albums resulting from these live shows are titled "Live at Easy Street" from bands such as Pearl Jam. Many other bands have made live recordings here.  The purple is an easy-to-love color and is based on the attitude of an easy-going Seattle crowd.  This fun loving color was born to be called Easy Street.

This is the strongest holo polish of the collection and the counterpart to Fremont Troll.  Purple with green vs. green with purple.  I used two coats for these swatches and loved the formula on this polish.

FLYING FISH is a holographic and multi-colored metallic and chrome flakie topper.  This is meant to look like fish scales.  The holo base represents the ice fish are commonly seen laying in at the historic Pike Place Market.

Famous for selling sustainable seafood all over the world, they are also loved and admired for tossing the fish to one another while packing orders.
Photos from my trip to Seattle a few years ago.  If you DO go to Pike Place market be sure to visit Biscuit Bitch for breakfast. SO Good and totally bad ass!

I've been to Pike Place Market and I've got to say this is a must see if you visit Seattle! I thought I'd throw in a few pictures from my visit a few years ago. There are so many great vendors in the market including a Russian bakery, a traditional French bakery, flowers, crafts, fruits and veggies and the original Starbucks location!

Also coming soon Joy Lacquer will be turning 1 this month! Be sure to check back here at Polish & Plates on May 15th for a look at the Birthday Duo set and a fun surprise!

The Emerald City Itinerary Collection launches Friday May 13th at midnight EST at JoyLacquer.com.  The entire collection will be $63.00 when purchased as a full set. This includes a gift with purchase from one of my favorite indie bath and body brands!

Melissa, owner of Love & Lotus Naturals, has created a limited edition custom body butter for the collection.  It's called 'Emerald City's Cannabis Cafe.'  The scent is a light blend of lemon and poppy seed muffin, with fragrant amber and lavender undertones that give a rich depth to the sweetness, without smelling too musky for summer time. Depending on what's your norm, it gives new meaning to what you might imagine when you think of the word baked.  Cannabis Cafe is absolutely divine!!!  A two ounce jar will be included with each full set, while supplies last.

Each polish in the collection is $10.00 with the exception of three colors:  Gum Wall, Flying Fish and Full Tilt Cone, are each $10.50 for full size. You can find Gum Wall, Full Tilt Cone and the other collection color on Joy's website/facebook page.

The five piece set of minis will be $23.00. This includes the colors and not the two toppers, (flying fish or gum wall). Mini bottles will not sold individually at this time.
