Check Your Tata's - Trio from Midwest Lacquer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.

This disease has impacted so many of my friends families as well as my own. Here are some facts about Breast Cancer in the United States:
  • One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
  • Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women.
  • Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women.
  • Each year it is estimated that over 220,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die.
  • Although breast cancer in men is rare, an estimated 2,150 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 410 will die each year.
According to the World Health Organization, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide, claiming the lives of hundreds of thousands of women each year and affecting countries at all levels of modernization.

So whats the moral of learning all this? Early detection. Be sure to do self exams every month and yearly exams by your doctor. At a certain age mamograms are key. I hear they are unpleasant but it could save your life.

There are a number of indie polish makers selling breast cancer awareness polishes with a portion of sales going to various related charities.  One in particular caught my eye from Midwest Lacquers!

I've mentioned Midwest Lacquers (aka Vinyl it Up) a number of time here on Polish & Plates. In addition to making great nail vinyls, Lizzie also makes great nail polishes! Today I have the Breast Cancer Awareness "Check your Tata's" trio for you.

Think Pink is a pink jelly with scattered holo, rainbow iridescent flakes, holo micro shreds. I just am in love with this shade. Squishy, vibrant, sparkly and perfect in 2 coats.

Pink Ribbon is a thermal crelly that shift from pale pink when warm to a bubblegum pink when cold, pink shimmer.

When I first put this on I forgot it was a thermal. When I looked down I noticed my tips were the darker shade of bubblegum pink. Essentially this polish creates its own perfect gradient in one step. 2 coats is all you need.

Bosom Buddy is a glitter topper, with pink holo micro glitters, pink holo stars, transparent pink stars, pink dots and pink shimmer. Its really the perfect "bosom buddy" for Pink Ribbon and it helps pull together a look with all the colors in this trio.

The trio is $22.00 and will only be available as a set only through the month of October. (Click here for listing) Don't delay! Each order comes with a sheet of 25 pink ribbon decals for super easy nail art! A portion of the proceeds benefits the Pink Ribbon Girls, which offers services, education, and support to those affected with Breast Cancer in the Cincinnati area. http://www.pinkribbongirls.org/

*Tip: make sure polish is dry before applying ribbon decal. Add 2 coats of top coat or one coat Gelous (available at Sally's) followed by top coat for extra "staying" power.

Grab your trio today or send one to a Pink Warrior in your life.  This trio and so much more is available in the Vinyl it Up/Midwest Lacquers store online! All Midwest Lacquers polish is 5-free, which means it does not contain DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin or Camphor. Follow Midwest Lacquers on Facebook and join the fan group to stay up to date with new collections and promotions!

Tell me what you think about this trio. Which colors do you like the best? Don't you think these are a great trio for breast cancer awareness?
