Lou-it-Yourself - Treat Yourself! Bath and Body (new products and review!)

Today I have another hometown, Colorado indie that I love. I got to meet Lou, the creator of Lou-it-Yourself at our recent Colorado Lacquerista meet up and I really enjoyed chatting with her. She has such a fun and really positive vibe. I discovered that Lou made a variety of products including bath and body, polish and nail vinyls too.  At our meet up I bought several mani bombs, bath bombs and cuticle balms from her to try and was so impressed! Lou has been making homemade bath products for a little over ten years now. When she began to run out of ideas for Christmas gifts she decided to make something more personal. She has always been dedicated to very natural, homeopathic beauty routines with no chemicals because of having extremely sensitive skin and allergies. She decided to research homemade bath and beauty products and has been experimenting with new techniques ever since. Her products are never tested on animals, as she uses her friends and family as guinea pigs.

When I made an order with her recently she asked if I'd be interested in trying some of the new things she was working on. Of Course I said YES! So today I want to tell you a bit about all the fantastic products Lou makes and why you need to check her store out!

Lets Lou-it-Yourself! Shall we?

Treat Yourself - So Cheeky! Facial Scrub

This is one of the new products that Lou is adding to her Treat Yourself bath and body line. This facial scrub contains organic raw oats, white clay, dried roses, dried calendula and buttermilk powder. The ingredients are mixed and then milled into a fine powder.  The oats create little suds similar to soap without the harsh drying effect and the clay draws out impurities. Calendula and oats are very soothing to the face as well, cleansing your skin while acting as a mild exfoliant.

To Use: Take about a tablespoon of the dried scrub and mix with water, facial oil or even yogurt!  I have a little container that I like to add my dried scrub mix to (see below) and then I add about 6 drops of facial oil and a drop or two of water and mix it up.  Apply to your face (avoiding eye area)  and rub gently in a circular motion. I have been using this in the mornings and I really enjoy it. My skin feels clean and not tight after using. Plus it kinda smells like biscuits to me (probably because the dried buttermilk) making it perfect in the morning.

Another great thing about this product is you you can use a little more powder and less water/oil and make a thick paste for a mask twice a week. Which I have done twice now and really enjoyed.

There are also more versions of this product in the works with a finer powder which is less exfoliating. Though I wouldn't say the original is all that harsh. Remember be gently to your skin!

Treat Yourself - Sweet Cheek! Face Oils

These oils are great for your skin. Containing a natural blend of hydrating and soothing aragon, coconut, jojoba and sweet almond oil you can mix this with your So Cheeky! Facial Scrub and/or use them on clean, dry skin as a moisturizer. I have a serious addition to facial oils since I moved to Colorado because the air is so dry here.

And I know what you are thinking - no it does not make you break out or make your skin greasy.

Treat Yourself - Cuticle Care & Bath/Body Products

Which brings me to some of the original things I ordered from Lou.  Lets talk bath bombs and mani bombs! These are two of my favorite things in the world. Who doesn't love a long, hot, smelly good luxurious bath? I sure do and right now Lou has two scent lines for you to choose from.  Treat Yourself to Summer with scents like Cantaloupe, S'mores and Pink Lemonade as well as Treat Yourself to Brunch with scents like Peach Bellini, Berry Pancake and Fruit Salad. These bath bombs all smell great and are ultra hydrating!

In addition you can choose the size of bath bomb that you want in each of the variety of scents. A "Plunk" is a 4oz bath bomb ($4.00), a "Plink" is a 2oz cube perfect for a lightly scented bath experience, or for a kids bath tub ($2.50), there is a mini / mani bomb ($1.50) and a cupcake version too ($4.50)!

The name alone on this one kills me, but the product is true to its name. If you don't want dry, ugly cuticles you need to pick some of this up! Available in both a 'clamshell' tub or a tube this balm is thick and rich, non greasy and seriously hydrating. I've tried the Green Tea and Lime scent (which is my personal favorite) and the Summer and Cantelope scents are also divine! Pick up a few and you will love them too!

Barkin' Dogs Soothing Foot Scrub

This is another new product that I got to try! This soothing foot scrub is made of dead sea salt, peppermint essential oil and dried peppermint from Lou's own garden! Doesn't get much more natural then that! I have used this a few times now on my feet and its definitely done wonders for hot, tired, flip flop ravaged summer tootsies. The peppermint really freshens your feet while the dead sea salt works its wonders. The result? Soft, fresh smelling feet that thank you for the TLC.  You can also find this in a lavender scent which has lavender essential oils and dried lavender buds.  Available in 2oz ($4.00) and 16oz ($14.00) jars.
Why are Dead Sea salts beneficial? The waters of the Dead Sea have been renowned for their therapeutic effects since ancient times. The waters from the Dead Sea are unique in that they contain 27% of various salts as compared to 3% in normal sea water. The balance of the salts in Dead Sea water are magnesium, potassium, calcium chloride and bromides.

Magnesium is important for both combating stress and fluid retention, slowing skin aging and calming the nervous system. Calcium is effective at preventing water retention, increasing circulation and strengthening bones and nails. Potassium energizes the body, helps to balance skin moisture and is a crucial mineral to replenish following intense exercise. Bromides act to ease muscle stiffness and relax muscles.  So you see that bathing in high quality sea salt can help to replenish the minerals which are critical to our skin metabolism.
Polish & Nail Vinyls! Lou it Yourself has a wide variety of nail vinyls and polishes in addition to her Treat Yourself skin care line.

Mumsy's Drunk Dahling (I say this in my head with a British accent) is a berry colored crelly with gold and white glitters for sparkle and depth.

Isn't this just gorgeous!? I used about 4 coats for these pictures. The polish was amazing to work with and dried evenly and fast. I do recommend turning this glitter polish upside down for a good 15 minutes and then give it a good shake to have the glitters rise to the top.
