Introducing Gunpowder Lacquer - Sunshine & Whisky Collection

*Press Sample*

Perhaps you've seen some bottle shots floating around of some gorgeous holo polishes with two revolvers and girly flowers called Gunpowder Lacquer that have been generating a lot of buzz! Well I'm excited to introduce you to the brand and its first collection today!

The “Sunshine and Whiskey Collection” is Gunpowder Lacquer’s debut collection, launching on July 1st. Gunpowder Lacquer has a country western flare and is all about being strong, but feminine. This collection is all about fun. Whether you’re on the beach, fishing in a boat or driving down a dirt road singing your favorite songs.

Besides some beautiful polishes you may be surprised to know that the maker behind this fabulous new brand is only 22 years old and in her last year of college in Wisconsin. I don't know about you but I certainly wasn't focused and entrepreneurial at that age like Carly. Another thing that I found super fascinating about her is that she fishes competitively in tournaments around Wisconsin. In her free time she loves to fish, hunt and shoot guns with her grandpa. All the while she does so thinking up fabulous polish colors, makes eyeshadow and some adorable jewelry. I love it when someone is so multidimensional in their interests and talents!

When Carly asked me if I would be interested in swatching and reviewing her debut collection I was thrilled. And when the package of polishes came I was even more excited. All her orders will arrive just like mine in an adorable patchwork, floral bag with a mason jar tag on the side (see below). I love that sort of attention to detail!

So grab your red solo cup, go fill it up, its time to party!

LITTLE RED WAGON is a bright holo red with bits of pink shimmers. This is a great all American red. It has a smooth formula that is easy work with and levels nicely. Two coats is all you need for some holo goodness.

Direct Sunlight
CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND is a Barbie pink creme holo with very subtle gold shimmer. If you love pink then you need this polish. Bright, shimmery, girly and fun. Great formula with two coats shown here.

Direct Sunlight
SUNDAZE is a bright coral creme with subtle holo and gold shimmers. The formula on this one was a touch thicker but my no means unmanageable. I think a lot of times this comes down to personal preference. 2 coats shown here.

Direct Sunlight
MEET ME IN MARGARITAVILLE is a lime green shimmer creme. Yowza this baby is bright!! I think my camera may have freaked out a bit with this one. I used three thin coats on this one but I think you can get away with two.

Direct Sunlight
DRIVIN ME PAISLEY is a neon lilac with blue shimmers and subtle holo. This is one of my favorites from the collection. At first glance you may think this looks more pink but the natural sunlight really brings out the lilac and blue shimmer.

Direct Sunlight
FLOATIN TRAILER PARK is a aqua blue holo creme with a slight blue iridescence. I would consider this an amped up Tiffany blue and I'm in LOVE with it. This is my favorite of the whole collection. Shown here with two coats. This is a must have.

TILL I SEA YOU AGAIN is a bright blue holo polish. This scattered holo blue is simply divine. It reminds me of that perfect pacific blue. Two coats is all you need.

I am really impressed by this initial collection but even more so by the lady behind it all and I'm looking forward to seeing what else this girl comes up with! The entire collection launches on July 1st! Full size polishes are $10.00 each with (larger) 8ml mini's available for $6.25 on the Gunpowder Lacquer website. All Gunpowder Lacquer polishes are 5-Free.

For this collection, Gunpowder Lacquer was excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with Vinyl It Up! to create custom vinyls to match the collection! I really need to find some time for nail art.

As I mentioned Carly is really creative and in addition to polish she makes jewelry as well! She will be offering these handmade mermaid/fish tail earrings and sparkly resin Druzy earrings along with  bullet shell earrings. How cute are these?! I especially love the mermaid scales! Pricing for the mermaid and druzy earrings will be between $6.00-$7.00 and a price is yet to be determined for the bullet shell earrings! What a steal!

Tell me what you think! Which colors are your favorite? What do you think about the earrings? I'd love to hear from you!
