Ouish for Clear Skin

Awhile back I wrote about a new indie bath and body company that I had fallen in love with called Ouish. Since that post I've tried just about everything that Ouish has to offer and I'm back today to give you an update!

As I've previously mentioned I've been into skin care for a long time, probably since early high school (I'm now in my 30s). In college I even worked for Clinique for a period of time just to learn more about quality skin care (and of course for the discount!). Since then I've been on a mission trying this and that seeking my own personal holy grain skin routine. While my routine doesn't use only Ouish products I am going to tell you about what I use and love from their skin care line. I'm all about "Skin Care Share."

Acai & Hibiscus Face Scrub
This refreshing and gentle face scrub is made with real Acai and a signature scent with notes of hibiscus and acai sprinkled with currant, plumeria, jasmine and amber. This scrub is perfect enough for everyday use however, its recommend use is 2-3 times a week. Like all Ouish products a little goes a long way. I'd say I use between the size of a pea and a dime when I use this product. I've been using it a few months and I still have plenty left.

Why Exfoliate? The process of exfoliation rids the body of any dry, dull skin by removing dead skin cells from the surface of the epidermis. By removing these dead cells, exfoliation can help keep pores from becoming clogged and leave skin with a refreshed and clean feeling. What's the benefit to clean and clear pores? Clogged pores can result in blackheads and acne. Furthermore, when pores are clogged, they appear larger. So, if you're worried about the size of your pores, although you can't reduce their actual size (genetics is the biggest factor in pore size), you can help diminish their appearance by keeping them clog-free.

Don't use harsh facial scrubs as they can cause microscopic tears in the skin, which can lead to scarring and even aging. All you need is a gentle scrub to reap the benefits of this amazing and hydrating product.

Miracle Oil
I have been using this oil 2x a day for well over a month now and I don't know if there is anything it can't do. The last few years I've had acne scarring from breakouts during pregnancy and I bought this hoping it would start to fade them. Well I'm happy to report that I am seeing definite progress!

I've also been using this daily on the KP I have on my arms. KP is short for Keratosis pilaris a common skin condition that a large segment of the population has. Keratosis pilaris causes numerous small, rough, tan or red little bumps around hair follicles on the upper arms, thighs, buttocks, and cheeks. Its hereditary and unfortunately there is no cure only management of the symptoms. After showering and before applying lotion I roll the Miracle Oil all over my upper arms and rub it in. Its made a really big difference on something I'm very self-conscience about.

Last but not least I've had a lot of success using the miracle oil on minor scratches and skin irritations. My toddler always seems to scratch her face no matter how often I cut her nails. One night she had a particularly nasty look scratch and of course we had family pictures scheduled the next day. I figured I had nothing to lose by trying Miracle Oil on it - and guess what? Next morning the scratch was gone! I swear!

Soothing Eye Serum
Did you know the skin around the eyes is ten times thinner than the skin on the face? As we age, skin loses its elasticity and becomes even thinner due to a breakdown of collagen. This can be further aggravated by sun exposure, smoking, and other environmental exposures. The skin of the eye contour is constantly moving, blinking alone produces 10,000 movements per day! These are all reasons why I'm a huge advocate for using eye creams and serums. I've been doing so since I was probably 16.

This soothing eye serum has antioxidant properties to sooth and relieve tired eyes. It’s non-oily texture nurtures and moisturizes the skin with the gentle care of coconut oil, aloe vera and vitamin E.

The Soothing Eye Serum is hydrating and like it says, soothing. I've had a lot of issues with the skin around my eyes being very sensitive and many makeup removers and moisturizers cause the skin to become itchy and inflamed. I've actually had to stop using any make up removing wipes because my eyes were getting so bad.  No worries, this product doubles as both an eye makeup remover and a moisturizer! After washing my face if I have any eye makeup left over (mascara is the usual culprit) I simply roll on the serum, massage with clean finger and wipe away with a cotton round. Then apply more serum and smooth lightly with your finger.

Acai & Hibiscus Night Cream
Do you moisturize your skin every day? If you don’t, you should. Both men and women can find many benefits to using high quality facial moisturizer each day. Moisturizing your face will help you to look and feel younger, you will have softer, more elastic skin, and it will keep your skin hydrated. All of these things are important if you want to make sure to look as young as you can in the years to come.

A lot of people are perplexed by day vs night creams. Do you really need them both? I'd say that depends. Generally speaking I use both because I like to use something more hydrating at night vs during the day when I don't want something as thick under my make up. In the day time I use SPF on my face and neck as sun damage is the leading cause of aging skin. I read somewhere once that a year of not using SPF on your face is equal to a week at the beach with NO sunscreen. But I digress.

This Acai & Hibiscus Night Face Cream is high in protein, triglycerides and vitamins due to the honey and goat milk contained within. Its regenerating properties can help promote collagen formation in the skin (ie help keep your skin firm and young). The formula is gentle and has the same signature scent of hibiscus and acai, sprinkled with the scents of currant, plumeria, jasmine and amber. Its creamy and light but ultra hydrating. Like the scrub a little goes a long way! Also don't forget your neck! The neck is an extension of the face and needs attention, too. Let’s not spoil a beautiful facial complexion with a dry and rough neck. Ouish also offers this in a Day Cream version which I will likely add to my collection soon.

There you have it a look at how Ouish is helping keep me looking my best with healthy skin. With any skin care routine consistency is key, don't ever expect any major changes over night. Clean, clear skin can be yours with a little self-pampering dedication!

    1. I know what you mean about the scent! I love the acai & hibiscus - perhaps we need to ask Nadia to make it into the bath products as well!
