Lush in Review - Skin Care Share

This week I went to Orlando for a professional development conference and while I was there I had a chance to stop by the Lush Orlando Airport location. Yes you read that right, there is a LUSH at the airport! [You can follow them on their Facebook page] Its one of the biggest locations in the U.S. and one of my favorite because the staff are always simply amazing. With the release of the Easter collection online I wanted to go into the store to see (and smell!) the new items in person.

Displays at Lush Orlando Airport

I thought everything in the Easter collection smelled really good. Especially the fluffy egg bath bomb!

Fluffy Egg Bath Bomb - Candy-scented fizzer

The original Easter egg-shaped Bath Bomb, Fluffy Egg is a classic customer favorite that we bring back each Easter for its masses of incredibly loyal fans. While we love the cheery pink color, it’s the intoxicating candy-sweet aroma that will really draw you in to its fluffy ways! Pop this one in the tub to sink deep into softening, brilliantly pink water—you’ll be left smelling like scrumptious vanilla cotton candy. Delicious!

Missing Snow Fairy? Indulge in a Fluffy Egg—they share the same sweet fragrance!

Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly - Cherry-coconut skin softening jelly

Our sweetest shower jelly is also our best-seller! Between the fruity fragrance, the iridescent glitter that leaves a sparkle on your skin, and the seaweed base that leaves your skin softened and refreshed, it’s irresistible. And while we know our blackcurrant and sour cherry wobbler smells good enough to eat, we recommend you curb your cravings and hop in the shower and wash with Sweetie Pie instead. Smooth it all over your body (and your hair too!) for a sweet yet sophisticated cleansing experience.

Although I was at Lush for primarily facial cleanser I asked the associate who I was working with what her favorite product was at the moment and she showed me the shower jelly. This stuff is so weirdly wonderful - I had to have some! You can use it like a jiggly-wiggly bar of soap or tear off a tinsy-tiny amount and work into a lather with your shower poof. The scent is sweet and the product is fun all well being top quality too.

Angels on Bare Skin (aka AOBS) - Balancing lavender cleanser

For heavenly soft and perfectly balanced skin, take a bit of Angels on Bare Skin, mix with a little water and massage all over your face and body. The kaolin clay base deep-cleanses while finely ground almonds and lavender flowers gently exfoliate away dry skin. We add lavender oil to soothe and balance, and rose absolute to calm redness.

I got this as a sample on my way into town and used it for three days. I'm sad to say it wasn't for me and I will tell you why. The texture of the product is meant to be an exfoliant which I don't need in a product at this moment. Additionally I want something "creamy" or "foamy" with regards to my cleanser. Its all in my head, but that's what I want. I could see this being a great morning face wash.

So on my way BACK through the Orlando International Airport I stopped back into the store (of course!). Again I was cheerfully greeted by the staff, who offered their assistance and remembered me on my way back in. I told them my thoughts on AOBS and asked what else they might recommend.

If you haven't been to a Lush before one of the great things is that the staff will test products on you in store. You sit down with a silver bowl full of clean water and see how things feel on your skin. If you're a busy mom like myself sometimes this is as good a mani your getting this week (month).

Ultrabland Facial Cleanser - Non-irritating beeswax cleanser

A hugely popular cult product, Ultrabland is a thick, rich emulsion of essential oils, honey and beeswax to take off any make up or residue that has built up on your face throughout the day. Unlike most make up removers, Ultrabland leaves your skin feeling soft and nourished, thanks to soothing rosewater and iris flower extract. Suitable for all skin types, Ultrabland is a classic LUSH cleanser coveted by staff and customers alike for it’s effectiveness.

9 to 5 Cleansing Lotion - Creamy dove orchid cleanser

Like Dolly says, 9 to 5 is quite the way to make a living. It can take its toll on the skin and leave you looking worn out. Our inventors created this one a long time ago and named it 'Orchid Oil Cleanser.' Our customers had been crying out for a liquid cleanser, so we decided to bring (the newly renamed) 9 to 5 to the LUSH shelves. This gentle cleanser is made with almond oil, dove orchids and everlasting flower absolute to remove your leftover make up, dirt and grime at the end of a long work day.

So Which Did I Choose?
Although Ultrabland was my choice at the time 9to5 is lovely too. Its a thinner texture and would be a great basic cleanser for the morning, for teens and your 20's. They knick name it "the gym bag cleanser". I chose Ultrabland because of its ultra-thick texture and the amazing feeling left by the Almond oil. (I'm kind of in love with Almond lately.) I use the Ultrabland at night and it does a beautiful job taking off my make up. Rub all over your wet face and wipe off with a warm, wet washcloth.

Enchanted Eye Cream - Tighten fine lines with lavender and honey
Packed full of gentle ingredients, Enchanted Eye Cream is beneficial for all types of skin.Cold-pressed almond oil high vitamin E content is perfect for the skin around the eyes.

The skin under your eyes is extremely delicate. Forget about pal-kt peptides or Q10 complexes; only the gentlest natural ingredients should be used to keep the skin firm and supple. Enchanted Eye Cream is a gentle, soothing blend to minimize fine lines. We mix calming lavender honey water to reduce swelling with cold pressed almond and jojoba oils to moisturize and honey for that “just awoke from a full nights beauty sleep” look. Gently dab on with your little finger, following the line of your cheek bone up towards your brow bone.

So I turn 34 on the 30th of this month. The horror! I'm just kidding, I'm totally okay with it. My personal motto is "the older I get the more I like myself" which can also translate to "as long as I LOOK younger I'm cool with it". One of the things I have used forever is eye cream. I'm pretty sure I started using it around 16-17. I'm telling you please do two things for yourself if you take NOTHING ELSE away from my blog: #1 USE EYE CREAM. Whatever you like and can afford. I personally have my favorite but please, do me a favor. You will thank me in 10-20 years. #2 Wear Sunscreen.

So back to the eye cream - I liked the eye cream. It has that same richness in the cleansers and is on the thinner "lotion" type consistency vs something thick like Ultrabland. So it came home with me too. What can I say, I love eye cream!

In closing I will leave you with some more "eye candy" bath goodies from the Lush Orlando Airport location. I thought the staff did such a nice job on all their displays. I desperately wanted the whole big chunk of Over the Rainbow soap! It smells as pretty as it looks!

Have you ever been to the Orlando Airport Lush location? Have you tried anything from Lush? What are your favorite Lush Cosmetic products? Which are the Easter/Spring items that your most excited about? Tell me below, I'd love for you to join in the conversation!

  8. Cool-looking products! I've always skipped Lush because *gasp* I don't actually use the kinds of things they offer. I stick to my salicylic acid face wash, bar soap, and I don't take baths. Womp womp for me!
