Julep - New Light on Your Lips Lipstick & Makeup Review

A pop of color makes everything better

Its that time again - time to review my newest Julep additions. I skipped last month's box so I have a lot to catch up on this month! I've been putting the following products to the test for you so lets jump right in!

This month Julep released multiple new products including a new set of full coverage creme lipsticks, an invisible lip-liner and a fluid eye liner.

Light on Your Lips Lipstick
What it is: A full-coverage crème lipstick that floats on and feels weightless.

What it does:
• Glides on easily to hug the contours of your lips
• Stays in place with no feathering
• Hydrates with shea butter, antioxidant-rich botanical extracts, and Julep’s Power Cell Complex™

I picked up Twirl in my box this month and I really like it! It looks more red here but is a light to medium pink. Its very hydrating and has a semi matte finish. Below I compare it to the Plush Pout from Julep in "Aurora Pink". Twirl is much more of a true pink whereas Aurora Pink seems to shift more orange in its undertones with my skin.

Get In Line Invisible Lip Liner

Color inside the line(r).

What it is: A clear, waterproof lip liner that works with any lip color or gloss.

What it does:
• Glides on without tugging
• Creates an invisible barrier to lock in lip color
• Prevents fading, bleeding, and feathering
• Lasts for 7+ hours

The Verdict? Honestly I'm still not sure. The liner is very soft and with no color you can fill in your lips before applying your lipstick, gloss, whatever you like. It does seem to make it last longer but 7+ hours? It does not. I find that I use this with lipsticks where I cannot find a coordinating lip liner most. So I think its a good bonus item to have if you like using liner to define your lips.

Fluid Eye Glider

No eye look is off limits.

What it is: A jet black eyeliner pen with a no-fray precision felt tip that makes it easy to create thin or thick lines.

What it does:
• Glides on and dries fast
• Stays put for 12+ hours

Good to know: Opthamologically tested. Store upside down between uses.

The Verdict? I really like this liner for a winged look. It glides on easily and stays put! Very easy to use for the dramatic liner effect you may be going for!

Glow Highlighting Powder

Turn every angle into your best angle.
What it is: A multitasking marvel designed to play up light and play down wrinkles, discoloration, and pores.
What it does:
Light-diffusing diamond powder and vitamin B6 reduce the appearance of wrinkles, discoloration, and pores. Julep's exclusive Power Cell Complex™ blends the benefits of three age-defying, skin-boosting, ultra-hydrating ingredients:
Rosehip seed oil delivers essential nutrients to soothe and repair.
Malvaceae Lipid Extract™ improves barrier function so skin retains moisture.
Green coffee bean oil invigorates skin & promotes cell turnover.

The Verdict? I like it! I use a nice size blush brush and apply this to my T-zone and cheekbones for added highlighting to my face after my base make up/foundation and usually over my blush.

Illume Eye Brightener

Well hello, bright eyes.
What it is: A lightweight eye illuminator. Great for face, too!
Choose from: Champagne or Pink
What it does: Packed with antioxidants for long-term brightening and smoothing. Looks great alone or under foundation.

The Verdict? Sorry Julep this product gets a thumbs down from me. I feel like this product is confused. Is it a highlighter or a concealer? I just don't see any real difference using the product for me. If I want to highlight I will stick with the Glow Highlighting Powder and Benefit's High Beam.

So there you have it. The latest and greatest from Julep. Have you tried any of these new products or any other Julep's makeup? Let me know what you think, I'd love to hear from you!

  5. I know it's bad, but I have so much julep make up from my maven subscription and I haven't used a thing!! It's like I'm hoarding it for no good reason. The only julep make up I've used is something I purchased separately, their eyeliner

  13. I haven't been a Maven in a long time. I canceled my subscription several months ago, and it looks like I missed all the fun makeup products. Maybe I'll pick back up one of these days.
