Mystic Muse - The Silver Screen Collection

Lights! Cameras! Action! To kick of 2015 Mystic Muse Nail Lacquer is going old school glam and taking us back to the days of old Hollywood.

I hope you all have at least seen one classic movie if not you really should! I even took a course on them for a semester in college. So I had to ask C. Lynn at Mystic Muse what some of her favorites are from this bygone era. Here is what she told me:  I loved all the classics - Gone with the Wind, Singing in the Rain. Anything with Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly...Honestly loved it all...the beauty. ..the glamor!

Don't be surprised to see upcoming colors to The Silver Screen Collection based off of classic favorites throughout the year. Yes you read that right - Mystic Muse is going to build this collection throughout the year! Without further adieu, Take One: Harlow, On the Silver Screen and Blushing Starlett.

Harlow: Named after one of the original Silver Screen Vamps herself! Jean Harlow was an American film actress and sex symbol of the 1930s and was known as Hollywood's "Original Blond Bombshell."

Harlow is a rich, vampy, deep berry jelly with gold flakes. 2-3 Coats recommended and I topped it with my favorite Mystic Muse Nail Lacquer top coat. I used 3 thin coats in the swatching photos.

This polish is loaded with lots of gold flakes giving the polish shine and dimension. At first it looked a bit like Witchy to me but after drying and a second coat it really stood as a color all its own. Smooth even without a top coat. I am just in love with this color - very glam is what came to my mind when I swatched it.

Just a note that the photos are making this look more red, but it really is more of a wine/berry tone. Vampy Glam!

(Quick Tip!) I like to turn any polishes with glitters, flakes, etc upside down for a few minutes before using and in between coats as I feel this helps with flake/glitter coverage.

The Silver Screen: A Beautiful, Majestic Silver Holo. A nod to the era of the Silver Screen. 2-3 Coats recommended with top coat. Holo lovers rejoice! This delicate linear holo is just lovely. Two coats was all I needed for full coverage.

Blushing Starlet: {Starlet, A young actress with aspirations to become a star}
Like its namesake Blushing Starlet is a fresh, beautiful, neutral beige, full of glimmer that when the light hits just right produces a beautiful blush sheen! I had trouble capturing the blush sheen to this polish but I promise you it is abundant.

simple, elegant, flawless color

I love this color with my fair skin tone (though it would be amazeballs with dark skin). It actually reminds me of A England polishes, very buttery, bijou style scattered shimmer. And its like a perfect nude for me but the blush sheen gives it a twist!

Two coats is all you need for full coverage and I used Mystic Muse Nail Lacquer top coat.

Formula - All of these polishes were very easy to work with, even Harlow with all the gold flakes. The polishes are trendy, upscale and 5-Free. I find that Mystic Muse polishes dry quickly making multiple coats easy.

  9. I like the Starlet one. When I use polish and not gel I actually prefer some shimmer like this. Better staying power.
