Get to Know Fair Maiden Polish

If you follow the indie polish scene you've probably noticed a new brand that burst onto the scene and quickly into everyone's collections - Fair Maiden Polish. When I first saw their branding come out I quickly reached out to the creators, longtime friends, Sarah & Adrienne to learn more. Adrienne was kind enough to answer some of my questions. I personally love to know more about the artisans making these beautiful creations. With any brand I feel as though getting to know its story givea the polish more personality. (sounds crazy, I know....)

I asked them to tell me a little about what lead them to launching Fair Maiden Polish.
I wish I had a great story for you, but all I can say is we’ve come a long way in the past year.  We dove into what it takes to make an amazing polish.  We knew before launching, we wanted to have everything perfect; the brand, the bottle, the label and most of all – the polish.  This is why we spent nearly a year researching, learning and developing our product before bringing it to market.

What is the inspiration behind the name of the brand?
Before coming up with a name, Sarah and I discussed in detail the idea we wanted our brand to capture.  Femininity and strength were the 2 overwhelming ideas that came to mind.  Fair Maiden seemed like the perfect fit when it made the list amongst hundreds of other company name ideas.  Femininity and strength is the underlying emotion behind all of our polishes.  Naturally the Be Your Own Heroine collection was developed on this exact concept pulling from well known and loved characters who exude this persona.  (Okay, maybe Evil Stepsister is pushing it…but at least those girls had some serious confidence!)

What inspired the colors of the collection?
The colors of our Be Your Own Heroine Collection have evolved over time.  Beauty Within is to my knowledge, the first good polish we created worth reproducing.  This color started as primarily medium gray with barely a hint of sparkle.  Sarah was the one to initially mix it and I was head over heels for it from the beginning.  Over time, we were able to develop it into something far more interesting, with much more depth.

Do you have a favorite color?
Ask me my favorite and you’ll get a different answer every day.  I am biased, but you truly can’t go wrong with what you pick.  What am I wearing right now?  Our Limited Edition polish!

Be Your Own Heroine  Collection
(Partial Collection)
I finally got around to ordering some of the polishes during the black friday sale and Fair Maiden sent me a few others to review for you. All of the polishes are “5-Free”.  This means they do not contain camphor, tolune, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) for formaldehyde resins. There was definite consistency in the polish formulas/quality. They weren't too thin or too thick and were easy to work with. I found that two coats made each of these polishes totally opaque.

I've got three shades for you today but I've got several others on my swatch wheel that I can't wait to show you too! Alas, fair maidens, only so many fingers and not enough time!

'Beauty Within'
The polish that started it all! A medium greyish purple creme with a intense violet flake shimmer.
I really love the base color of this polish and the micro flake violet shimmer really does make this beautiful within ;)

'Let Your Hair Down' - medium purple linear holographic polish.
The purple in this polish is definitely more on the purple spectrum with a nice, but not overwhelming linear holo.

‘Evil Stepsister’, a totally vampy, deep burgundy nail polish with a gorgeous golden shimmer.
I REALLY love this color, almost unexpectedly so! The gold shimmer is fit for a princess, or her evil stepsister!

So what do you think? Which colors have you picked up Fair Maiden and been loving? I'd love if you would tell me below or on my Facebook page! Stay tuned as I will have more Fair Maiden swatches coming soon!

Until then, don't forget to follow Fair Maiden Polish on their website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Join the discussion in the Fair Maiden Facebook Fan Group as well!

Have a great week!
