Autumn Reflections Inspired Nail Art - Mystic Muse

This weekend I challenged myself to actually do a few of the fall nail art I've been dreaming of using the Mystic Muse Autumn Reflections Collection. If you haven't already seen my review and swatches of the collection, hop on over to check them out!  Since I'm also giving away the ENTIRE Collection be sure to enter! Only a few days left to do so!

The trees have pretty much reached the peak of their fall colors here in Northern Virginia. They are deep reds and oranges with hints of yellow, brown and green mixed it. I recently spent a weekend driving from Virginia to North Carolina for Halloween and the colors I was loving most were the reds and oranges blending together. I kept coming back to Cranberry and Autumn Reflections from the new Mystic Muse Collection.

Autumn Reflections Ombre

Polishes Used: Base Coat (of your choice), Mystic Muse Nail Lacquer in Autumn Reflections and Cranberry, Mystic Muse Top Coat.
  • Apply two coats of Autumn Reflections over dried base coat.
  • I used a make up sponge to apply the Cranberry color next. I started with only the tip of the nail, almost like I was doing a french. This is because I wanted the color concentrated at the end of the nail. Coat/Sponge 2x. *Tip* be sure to wet and wring out your make up sponge before use, that way it doesn't suck up all your polish!
  • Then I covered about a 1/3 of my nail in the Cranberry with the make up sponge. Moving it slightly up and down and side to side. Your attempting to create a fade.
  • Lastly I used more of the Autumn Reflections polish on the sponge from top to tip to achieve my desired result. I did this a few times as it adds some of that lovely HOLO micro glitters to the cranberry.
  • Two coats of top coat to even it all out to a glossy shine!

I think the key to this look is just going back and forth between the cranberry and Autumn Reflections. Since Autumn Reflections has a lot of holo micro glitter it looks awesome over Cranberry. The holo in the glitters allows you to see flecks of all the colors of the fall in the sunlight.  I found these two polishes are really easy to mesh into an ombre! I have been staring at this all day long! I am glad I did this look last because its been on my nails two days and its so pretty I don't want to take it off.

Cranberry Night Ombre

On all the fall runway shows there have been a lot of black & red nails - just see the September/October issue issue of Nail It! and you will see a whole spread on variations.  Here is my version with Cranberry & Night from the Autumn Reflections collection.  This look comes together much like the last one using a sponge to achieve the blending.

Cathedral - Fall Foliage

Here Cathedral is representing the Cathedral Collection in this fall spectacular. This ultra dark plum polish has hints of copper deep within which I thought was just screaming to be pared with Fall Foliage. Since Fall Foliage is a nice chrome it looks amazing with Cathedral. I also added a little Vintage Copper glitter gradient to my pinkie for some added sparkle.  The wavy nail vinyls I used to achieve this look were from KBShimmer.

Last but not least is Chestnut, Fall Foliage and some adorable leaf vinyls from Vinyl it Up!

So there you go! Some inspiration for your fall mani. Which is your favorite? What looks are you making with the collection at home? I'd love to see them - share them on my Facebook page anytime!
